Trinity University’s Health Care Administration (HCAD) program has been ranked No. 16 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for the 2025 rankings in Health Care Management. Adding to this distinction, Money magazine has also recognized HCAD with a 5-star rating in its Best Graduate Schools in America category, further cementing its reputation for excellence in healthcare education. These achievements highlight the program’s unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and leadership in the field of health care.
HCAD’s curriculum offers flexibility with two-degree paths: an on-campus program (full-time) and an executive program (part-time). The executive track is designed for individuals currently working in health care, providing a part-time format that allows professionals to invest in their future while continuing to work full-time.
The HCAD program is designed to equip graduates with the essential skills for a successful career, fostering leadership and providing the knowledge and tools needed to advance to executive-level positions across healthcare organizations. The Fall 2024 semester offered a wealth of hands-on learning experiences, including community impact projects, patient experience initiatives, site visits throughout San Antonio and Austin, engaging guest speakers, and networking with alumni.
The HCAD program is enriched by its extensive alumni network and dedicated faculty, creating a strong support system that lasts long after graduation. With more than 1,800 graduates nationwide and continuous CAHME accreditation since 1968, the program has one of the largest and most established alumni networks in the nation, backed by a legacy of excellence.
Faculty develop close ties with students, providing unwavering support throughout their careers. Through a culture that prioritizes the graduates and fosters lasting relationships, faculty are committed to cultivating future leaders who think critically and are poised to transform health care. This blend of a powerful alumni network and faculty mentorship ensures graduates have a foundation of excellence and ongoing guidance as they advance their careers.
“This recognition is a testament to our highly engaged alumni network, who consistently provide mentorship and real-world opportunities for our students; our creative and caring faculty, who blend academic rigor with innovative applications and personal connection; and our exceptional students,” says HCAD department chair Ed Schumacher, Ph.D. “Guided by our mission to prepare and advance leaders in health care and driven by our vision to lead the field in preparing and advancing highly skilled, inclusive, innovative, and *humbitious humans, we are proud to be shaping the future of health care, together.
*Amer Kaissi, Ph.D., defines humbitious as a combination of humility and ambition. It describes a leadership style that balances modesty, openness to learning, and self-awareness (humility) with strong motivation, drive for success, and high aspirations (ambition).
