Construction Updates and Impact

Impact Level: Medium
Updated: January 22, 2025

Construction will occur between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. When Saturday work is necessary, it will be limited to the hours between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Work on this project is moving forward on schedule, as planned. The majority of the underground utility work is now complete and concrete foundations are in progress. While minor noise disturbances can be expected in the near term, the major interruptions should now be behind us.

  • The construction area will encompass the field between Beneski Parkway, the north side of Coates Library, and Hildebrand Avenue, continuing all the way to the Halsell Center and Dicke Hall to the west
  • Lot F and North Campus Drive are closed
  • The outdoor walkway to the east of the Halsell Center between Dicke Hall and the rest of upper campus are closed
  • The pedestrian route between Dicke Hall and the rest of campus will pass through or to the west of the Halsell Center

During this year's campus construction, faculty and staff will lose access to:

  • Lot F: Located between the Library and Dicke Hall
  • Lot H: Located northeast of the Library and east of Lot F

In total, we will be short 91 spaces for faculty and staff parking, 14 spaces for visitor parking, and 5 spaces for disabled parking.

Alternative Parking Options

Although there is no plan to add new parking spaces during the construction project, the following spaces have been identified as alternative parking areas:

  • Laurie Auditorium's orange level.
  • Prassel Garage, located on the south campus near the mail center and facilities services.
  • Alamo Stadium is open Monday through Friday.
