Trinity University is excited to announce that two important projects to enhance campus will begin over the summer. Both of these construction projects aim to improve campus life and accessibility and will help make our campus more welcoming to all current and future community members.
Coates Esplanade - Project Completed
This project will enliven the outdoor space along the esplanade by adding seating, wifi access, sound, and lighting that will improve nighttime pedestrian access and enable the community to host outdoor events at night. It also will enhance accessibility by flattening the area as much as possible and adding accessibility ramps to the south side of Coates Student Center (CSC). The project to update Coates Esplanade will be ongoing during Fall 2024 and is projected to end in Spring 2025. The project's completion will be celebrated with a community event.
While the project is ongoing, Coates Student Center will be accessible at all north entrances. Anticipate closures of the connecting sidewalks between CSC, the Esplanade, and Murchison Hall. The westernmost pedestrian ramp near Storch will remain open for the duration of the project. If you plan to eat lunch at the Commons, please allow extra time, as lines may be longer due to construction.

Welcome Center and Event Hall
This project will result in two buildings north of Coates Library and east of Dicke Hall. It is a continuation of the project that created the Beneski Parkway entrance to campus. The new two-story welcome center will house the Offices of Admissions and Alumni Relations and Development, along with a cafe, greeting area, and spirit shop on the first floor. This building is part of a new face of the University that will welcome prospective students, their families, and returning alumni. The second building will be a flexible event space that will support Admissions and Alumni Relations in hosting large groups of people and enhance our capacity for hosting academic, student life, and social events and gatherings on campus. Turner Construction will be on-site starting June 17, 2024, to survey the area and begin installing construction fencing and barriers. Construction is expected to continue until Summer 2026. Lot F and North Campus Drive will be impacted directly; please plan accordingly.
