Long-time undergraduate mentor and two-time Mellon SURF stand out

Last week, Dr. Rubén R. Dupertuis was selected as a 2020 CUR-Arts and Humanities Mentor Awardee.  Dr. Dupertuis, an associate professor in the Religion department, was the director of the Mellon Initiative from 2013 to 2016. He co-created and led the first-ever humanities lab at Trinity, the Roman World Lab, and has served as a mentor in the summer undergraduate research program three times. We congratulate Rubén on this well-deserved award, which recognizes his exceptional commitment to the humanities and undergraduate research. 

On June 2, former Mellon SURF Isaiah Ellis  (Mellon ‘13 and ‘14) was awarded a Woodrow Wilson Foundation Newcombe Fellowship, which recognizes outstanding work “in the humanities and social sciences addressing questions of ethical and religious values” and supports Ph.D candidates in their final year before their dissertation. Isaiah is a Ph.D candidate in religious studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We congratulate him on this most prestigious award and wish him continuing success!
