On Friday, January 20, 2023, KRTU was recognized with an award by DreamWeek San Antonio at their annual DreamWeek Awards Luncheon. This year the luncheon took place at Texas Public Radio where KRTU and other honorees were acknowledged. The DreamWeek 2023 theme is Identity & Representation, and within that celebration, KRTU was honored for their support of DreamWeek, their work in the community, and their support of local artists and musicians.
"As a community radio station, KRTU strives to represent the full breadth of jazz and independent music and the many voices who represent that music community, internationally, nationally and locally,” says JJ Lopez, KRTU General Manager. “That work is about diversity and inclusion and KRTU takes great pride, everyday, in working towards fulfilling that mission. To be acknowledged by DreamWeek and Dream Voice for that work is an honor and we're grateful and inspired. An extra big shout to the KRTU staff for their commitment and hard work!"
