Trinity University is pleased to welcome Nicola “Nikki” Martin as the interim chief human resources officer (CHRO), effective May 12, 2025.
Martin is an experienced human resources leader with a strong strategic talent management and organizational development track record. Most recently, she served as interim human resources director at Luna Community College in Las Vegas, New Mexico, where she successfully rebuilt the HR team and developed strong partnerships with campus leadership, aligning HR initiatives with the college’s strategic priorities.
Previously, as senior director of human resources at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, Martin led a significant restructuring of the HR department, implemented a comprehensive compensation strategy, and developed a rebranding communications plan to restore trust in HR services. Her earlier work at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science showcased her adaptability during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she transitioned the workforce to a remote model and introduced innovative health and wellness programs.
“We are delighted to welcome Nikki Martin as our interim CHRO,” says Dr. Brandi P. Jones, vice president for people, culture, and community. “Her expertise will be instrumental as we continue to align our people strategies with Trinity's mission and values.”
Martin holds a master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology and a bachelor’s degree in business communications from Walden University. Her diverse experience spans both higher education and health care, and she is known for building high-performing teams while fostering inclusive, employee-centered workplaces.
Outside of work, Martin enjoys spending time at the beach and practicing boxing, activities that reflect her energetic and resilient leadership style. She is recognized for her warm, approachable demeanor and dedication to creating environments where employees feel valued and empowered.
Please join us in welcoming Martin to Trinity University, and stay tuned for an invitation to a campus welcome event in her honor.
