Internships Career Planning Graduate School
Market Yourself
Maximize your job search by putting your best foot forward. Marketing yourself—your skills, talents, knowledge, commitments, and portfolio of work—is one of the most effective ways to compete in the job market.
Who are you, really?
Are you curious to learn about your strengths? Take the inventory, fill out this form for further training, or contact our CliftonStrengths Team for more information.
STEP 1
Hone Your Skills
- Build your experience through internships, service-learning, course projects, research, and federal work study opportunities.
- Learn to articulate and develop skills through student orgs and other on-campus activities.
- Develop skills through internships
- Sharpen your written communication
- Nail your job interview
STEP 2
Create a Career Portfolio
There are several good websites—such as Wix, Behance, and Wordpress—that provide free or low-cost services allowing students to create a portfolio of work. Through these platforms, you can post writing samples, examples of work related creativity such as marketing materials, videos, and more. Search the web for keywords such as "career portfolio" or "professional portfolio" to find other tools.
STEP 3
Connect through Handshake
Handshake, Trinity's job and internship posting platform, connects students and alumni to recruiters, employers, opportunities, and more useful information.
Or, learn more about navigating the system.
