Raquel Meyer Alexander Named Dean of the Michael Neidorff School of Business
Trinity welcomes seasoned academic leader to guide the NSB into its next chapter of growth and innovation

Raquel Meyer Alexander, Ph.D., has been named the next dean of the Michael Neidorff School of Business at Trinity University, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Megan Mustain, Ph.D., announced today. A seasoned academic leader, Alexander brings over two decades of experience in higher education and a strong commitment to integrating business education within the liberal arts tradition. She begins at Trinity in mid-June.

Alexander comes to Trinity from Bucknell University, where she was the founding dean of the Freeman College of Management and currently serves as director of the Management in Asia Pacific program. As dean, she led transformative initiatives in strategic planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, experiential learning, and external engagement. Her leadership resulted in more than $80 million in philanthropic support, the development of innovative academic programs, and national recognition for the college's undergraduate business programs.

“Dr. Alexander brings a powerful blend of vision, experience, and results-driven leadership to Trinity,” says Mustain. “Her achievements at Bucknell demonstrate the kind of innovative and collaborative leadership that will help the Neidorff School of Business thrive within our liberal arts context and make her an ideal fit for this role at such an exciting moment in the University’s trajectory.”

Alexander expressed her enthusiasm for joining Trinity, saying, “I am excited about joining the Michael Neidorff School of Business and working collaboratively with Trinity University faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders to advance the mission of Trinity University and the business school within the liberal arts tradition. My family and I look forward to returning home to Texas.”

Alexander holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Taxation from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Kansas. Throughout her academic career, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to scholarship and service. Her research, focused on tax policy, corporate transparency, and the intersection of business and the public interest, has been published in leading academic journals and cited by major media outlets and policymakers. And, she has held numerous leadership roles across institutions, serving on university governance committees, accreditation review teams, and national boards. She is also an award-winning educator who has championed experiential and interdisciplinary learning.

In her vision for the school, Alexander emphasized the importance of cross-campus collaboration and hands-on learning experiences: “Business schools do best when they are purposeful in choosing where to dedicate faculty, staff, and financial resources to support rich experiential learning opportunities. I believe in championing a shared vision and tapping into the collective talents and passions of faculty and donors to prepare students to lead lives of meaning and purpose.”

Alexander succeeds Bob Scherer, Ph.D., who has served as dean of the Neidorff School of Business for eight years. During his tenure, Scherer led the school through reaccreditation, expanded academic offerings, and strengthened industry and alumni partnerships. His visionary leadership helped position the Neidorff School of Business as a national leader in undergraduate business education.
