Spring 2025 Campus Projects Updates
Learn more about progress on ongoing and upcoming projects

Trinity University continues to make exciting progress on construction projects around campus, all aimed at improving our facilities and enhancing the community's experience on Trinity's campus.

Ongoing Projects

Coates Esplanade

This project, which involves enlivening the outdoor space and improving accessibility, is expected to be completed in mid-February, weather permitting. Fencing will be removed at that time, and there will be full pedestrian access to the space. Chocolate Fest, on Friday, February 14, from 2-4 p.m., will celebrate the completion of the project and reopening of the Esplanade. To learn more about the project, visit the Coates Esplanade construction website.

Welcome Center and Event Hall

Work on this project is moving forward on schedule, as planned. This project will result in two new buildings as part of a new face of the University that will welcome prospective students, their families, and returning alumni. The majority of the underground utility work is now complete and concrete foundations are in progress. While minor noise disturbances can be expected in the near term, the major interruptions should now be behind us. To see more details, visit the Welcome Center and Event Hall construction website.

Other projects

The Butch Newman Tennis Center scoreboards have started and should wrap up at the end of January. The Laurie Garage available parking spots system is expected to be operational mid-February. For more information, read about the live availability system and other parking solutions (note that the pilot shuttle program has been paused and is under review). The new reserved parking calendar is now accessible. This tool allows the Trinity community to view any reserved parking spaces scheduled for a particular day.

Upcoming Projects

Looking ahead, the Holt Center renovation start date is February 1, with a completion date of late spring 2026. Next, Northrup Hall’s space utilization project will start on level one in early March and wrap up in mid-June. This space utilization project will transform the space that currently houses the registrar to classrooms. Additionally, the space of Student Financial Services has been designed for the Center for International Engagement that is currently in Coates Library. Reimagining of level three of Northrup Hall of the area that Strategic Communication and Marketing (SCM) occupies will start in May and end in late July. This space will be for SCM again.

These efforts underscore Trinity’s commitment to providing a vibrant, functional, and welcoming environment for everyone on campus. Thank you for your continued support and patience through these periods of construction as we bring these projects to life!
