Overview

Students who study French will gain mastery of the language, knowledge of the culture, and an understanding of the topics in literature through the centuries. The curriculum includes the exploration of French civilization, French cinema, and other specialized topics such as literary methodologies and major French authors.

Honors Programs

Students are welcome to apply for the honors program within the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures.

Research Opportunities

Opportunities for independent research are available through the department and the Mellon Initiative. 

Study Abroad

The French program makes it possible for majors and minors to study in another country immersed in language and cultural studies. 

Service-Learning

Internships, with study abroad opportunities in French-speaking communities, allow students to immerse themselves in the language of their choosing.

Student Organizations

Students can also join Pi Delta Phi, the French National Honor Society or the French Club.
