AN EARLY START TO SUCCESS

About the Program

The Skyline Scholars Program is an invitation-based opportunity for selected students to move to campus two weeks early, begin their First-Year Experience (FYE) course, make friends, participate in workshops, and get to know Trinity.

What You’ll Learn

FYE Topic

All Skyline Scholars are enrolled in the "A Successful Life" First -Year Experience course. In this course, you will:

  • Question how we can measure deep, long-term success
  • Examine the surprising ways important figures have sought to define success
  • Study contemporary examples of struggles to achieve artistic and scientific success

In addition to reading a range of classic and contemporary texts, we will discuss how you might finish your first year at Trinity with success and how you might extend that success along the road to graduation.

Workshop Topics

In addition to attending FYE classes, you will attend daily Skyline Scholar workshops focused on starting your life at Trinity with tools and skills for success. Topics to choose from include:

  • Study strategies
  • Managing life in college
  • Tech @ Trinity
  • Time and task management
  • Library resources
  • Mindfulness and wellness
  • Strategies for building your coping toolkit
  • Career Services and Experiential Learning
  • Study Abroad opportunities
  • Thriving in your first college math course
  • LatinX Leadership
  • Getting involved
  • College research skills

You will also take part in community building activities, including:

  • A campus scavenger hunt
  • Volunteering at the San Antonio Food Bank or other community service
  • Evening activities to connect with other students

There are so many people and services to help you. You can tell Trinity really wants to be there for the students and set them up for success. We aren’t just a number here.”

The workshops were useful in getting me more involved at Trinity!

I’ve gotten settled into my classes and my room and feel more comfortable in knowing my way to classes. My peer tutors are also amazing.
