AN EARLY START TO SUCCESS
About the Program
The Summer Bridge FYE is an invitation-based program designed specifically to welcome incoming first-generation students and/or students from underrepresented populations to Trinity University, facilitate their transition to university life both academically and socially, and provide them with an early introduction to all the resources that the University has available for students.
Participants move into campus early to begin their First-Year Experience (FYE) course in advance, make friends, participate in workshops, and get to know Trinity University.

What You’ll Learn
FYE Topic
The topic of the Summer Bridge FYE is “A Successful Life.” Everyone sets out to succeed, but pinpointing what “success” means can be tricky business. In this course, you will:
- Question how we can measure deep, long-term success
- Examine the surprising ways important figures have sought to define success
- Study contemporary examples of struggles to achieve artistic and scientific success
The semester will culminate in your individual creative exploration of how you might finish your first year at Trinity with success, how you might extend that success along the road to graduation, and, most importantly, how you can forge the path to an ultimately successful life.
Workshop Topics
You will attend workshops and seminars focused on starting your life at Trinity off strong. Topics covered include:
- Study strategies
- Transitioning to college life
- “Tech @ Trinity”
- Time and task management
- Library resources
- Navigating the Pathways curriculum
- Embracing diversity, inclusion, and community
- Mindfulness and wellness
You will also take part in some orientation and community building activities, including:
- A campus resources scavenger hunt
- Volunteering at the San Antonio Food Bank or other community service
- Getting your Tiger Card (student ID card)
This is a great opportunity to take advantage of. You finish early and get introduced to campus early, which is a great advantage. You also have many resources: the TLC staff, your professors, and advisers that will all help you succeed.
